Dumfries House - Programmes

The programmes are via Zoom but we are working to make the Centre COVID-19 secure so hope to be back delivering the sessions safely before the end of the year although there will still be the option to join via Zoom for those who feel more confident to participate virtually.

19th October – Fertility Well-being -  this group help couples who are looking to or struggling to conceive. Supported by the tertiary NHS Centre and other NHS professionals it looks to inform and reassure . It also gives couples an opportunity to look at reproreflexology and reproacupuncture as a tool in helping restore their balance.

29th October – Health and Well-being – we are focusing this course on weight management for those who struggle with their weight. Looking not only at the components of a healthy diet but we look to address the  emotional impacts and effects of stress and anxiety on your body and metabolism, the role of hormones and how they regulate our weight.

23rd October – 8 week Mindfulness and Stress course – what is mindfulness and how can it help me? The opportunity to try it for themselves and see how even 5 short minutes can make a difference to how they feel about their day!

4th November – chronic pain – an opportunity to explore how to manage your pain with a different technique each week, take part in gentle movement and share your experiences with others who understand and accept.

If any patients feel they would benefit from any of the above programmes please contact the secretaries at the practice.

BREAST SCREENING SERVICE

The new breast screening service is due to commence on the 11th March. Ladies will be invited to the breast screening unit at Ayrshire Central Hospital Irvine.

Ladies aged between 50-70 are invited for screening once every 3 years. Over 70s can request screening but under 50s cannot be screened.

PHYSIOTHERAPY APPOINTMENTS

We now have a physiotherapist working within the practice on a Thursday all day. If you have any muscle or joint pain the physiotherapist could help you with this. Please ask the Receptionist for details on appointments. YOU DO NOT REQUIRE A GP APPOINTMENT BEFORE SEEING HIM.

APPOINTMENT REMINDERS - TEXT MESSAGING

We are pleased to offer the above service. The practice will send you a text message approximately 24 hours before reminding you of the time of your appointment.

Please ensure we hold the correct mobile telephone number on record for you by either completing the patient contacts link at the bottom of our page or alternatively speak to one of the Receptionists.

Unfortunately reminders will not be sent out for children's appointments or for Physiotherapy appointments.

NEW PATIENTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME

We are currently registering new patients. To register please come into the surgery and collect forms.
